Reader Question: Africa - Student
I just broke up with someone because I don't have peace in my heart about him. problem is, I miss him. He also doesn't believe in going to church all the time because he's already a christian. What do I do if he asks me to get back with him? I feel I can make him increase the times he goes to church.
It sounds like you have already recognized that you did not sense God's peace about this reationship. Colossians 3:15 says this:
Amplified Bible (AMP)
And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].
According to this verse, you can trust that you are obeying God if you will allow God's peace to "act as umpire continually" in these situations. Determine in your heart to put your relationship with God before any earthly relationship, so that you will not be tempted to enter into unhealthy relationships.
Begin praying for God to bring people and friendships into your life who spiritualy challenge you to grow in deeper relationship with God. |
