Question: What is an intercessor and how do I know if I'm called to be one?

You have asked a very important question! When Christians talk about being an "intercessor", we are referring to a certain way of praying that focuses on others needs. Usually we are praying on someone else's behalf, believing that God will move in the spirit realm to bring about change either in that person's life or in their circumstances.

We can all be intercessors and pray regularly for the needs of other people. However, God does call some Christians to make intercession their ministry. If you regularly feel a heavy burden to pray for other people or groups of people so that they and/or their circumstances change, God may be calling you to a ministry of intercessory prayer. Often times the other person or group of people will never know in the natural that you have been praying for them, and you might not even know their earthly names. Sometimes God will even have you intercede for a city or even for a nation.

The great thing about intercessory prayer is that you can intercede for others wherever you are, and whenever you feel moved to do so. The challenging part of having an intercessory prayer ministry is that many times you will never know the outcome of your ministry until you get to heaven!

May God continue to guide you as you seek His will about being an intercessory prayer warrier. He loves you, and appreciates your willingness to be His servant. God bless!
