Grafted Into A New Vine!

by Kelly Martinez

All the days of my life were known to God, my Creator, my Heavenly Father before anyone knew me, (Eph. 1:4-5).  Looking back at my years of growing up, I can clearly see several people of influence and assistance that God placed in my life.  These encounters and relationships helped to develop the woman I am today.  God saw who I was before I was.  He saw what more I would need to become that person destined by Him, (Ps. 139:16).   I believe He never once forgot about me.  No matter what destruction and harm the enemy has caused God promises in His Word that He will somehow, someway, work it to have something good come out of it. (Rom 8:28)  Even when the devil causes harm and pain, he STILL ends up LOSING!  God is always at work on our behalf bringing good.

I am my mother and father’s daughter.  I am thankful for the good traits that they have passed on to me. God took the good they gave me, and offered me an opportunity to become HIS child as well!  He then grafted me into HIS VINE!  The areas in my life that were wounded, yet unformed, yet unlike Him, have through the years become more and more healed, and Christ-like.  His blood flows through me.  His ways are more and more becoming my ways.

You do not have to settle to be a ‘product of your past or upbringing’.  As you look to God, you’ll see Him place people around you to help you see who HE says you are and are destined to be.  Through your years with Him as your Father, He will show you glimpses of ways and times that He ‘was there’ for you, protecting you, helping you, and putting people in your path to guide you toward Him and His intended life for you.  You will see you were not alone and He loved you then as much as He does now and always will.

As a child of God, you are no longer just a child of natural birth.  You are grafted into His Vine, (John 15:5, Rom. 11:17-18).  His life and blood flows through you.  Your identity is in Him, (Gal. 2:20).  You are a new creation, with all the old junk gone and passed away. (2 Cor. 5:17)  You are washed clean.  When you are God’s child, it can be said of you in a good way, “Now, that apple didn’t fall far from the tree!” speaking of your Heavenly father and you.  Your identity is IN HIM.  The old has passed and the new has come!  You are adopted into HIS family as an heir and as a dearly loved child! (Gal. 4:5-7)  His traits are your traits!  (1 Cor. 3:23)

I am so thankful for all of the numerous people in my life, from childhood until now, who have been extensions of God’s love and His hands in my life.  He has always put people in my life to help me become that woman He destined for me to be and to do what He created me to do!  He’s doing the same work in your life. You are never alone!  He is always with you and for you!

Take a moment periodically to reflect on the people of influence in your life.  As your heart swells with gratitude, thank God for them and bless each one!  Be aware that you have an opportunity every day to be a woman of influence and encouragement in someone’s life to help them become all that God destined for them to be. You are a woman of God, a daughter of the King, a beautiful new creation in Christ. Transformed by Him, reach out and take the hand of those around you, and together, rise up and shine!
